Make Someday Today

You can help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families by donating to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

"Double-hit” lymphomas are challenging tumors, and the best means of treatment have yet to be discovered. Double-hit lymphomas are very rare, aggressive, they develop rapidly and require early treatment.

There's still a lot to learn about double hit. Identifying these types of lymphoma from other B-cell lymphomas can be difficult. And, testing for it is often complex.

My Dad, Windell Kjono pictured to the left was diagnosed with Double-hit lymphoma in April of 2015. He successfully went through treatment at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, FL. This cancer attacked my Dad and hit him fast. Within two weeks of being admitted to the hospital he was in ICU fighting for his life. Once diagnosed he began chemotherapy. I watch his will, determination and strength never give way to the battles he faced everyday. He was very fortunate to have quality, quick and aggressive care at St. Joseph's.
However, because this type of lymphoma is so unknown there is not a standard protocol for treatment and many other patients haven't had the same outcome. Research is necessary in order to understand double-hit better.

Please consider donating to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for Double-hit lymphoma. No amount is too small.
